Rainbow Foundation Sunderland was formed in July of 2016, with the intention of offering further support to the LGBT+ community in the Wearside area.
As well as working for the improved visibility for this community, the organisation also works to create social cohesion amongst the minority communities in the City of Sunderland.
The objectives that were agreed by the management team of the organisation are as follows;
Actively promote the work of businesses working to improve the visibility of Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Trans people in the North East of England.
Work to relieve the hardship of the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Trans people in the Northern region, by providing advice, guidance, and a range of services to improve the groups emotional wellbeing.
Work to deliver training to the wider community in order to allow for further development and visibility of the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Trans community.
Work to improve the health and well-being of the Lesbian, Gay, BI-sexual and Trans community in the North East of England.
These objectives will be achieved in a variety of different ways;
Through media platforms; including social media and on our website
Through community outreach work
Through specific targeted project work with community groups
Through a range of annual events in the City of Sunderland
